I think the mechanic is cutting someone short. Trying to get paid for something he did not do. Hope it works out talking to the service manager. Take it to a local tire shop for second opinion. Speak nothing of "repairs" done. Get estimate with trouble and take it to dealer and check for current BBB (Better Business Bureau). Question their credibility if need be!! Wish Ya Best!!

you can always follow the service manager and mechanic around in your patrol car.
PULL THEIR AZZ FOR ANYTHING!!

i took it to the local goodyear first and they told me i needed upper and lower ball joints and a steering gear box they told me since i just bought it take it to the dealer and try to ruffle some feathers i guess the dealership never has to worry about me buying another vehicle there if they dont fix this

today i wiped off the diff fluid drove around and confirmed it was leaking and whatever the seals that are on the outside of the hub and axle (dust seals)maybe were not changed

There is no question here. Take the damn thing back and make them fix it on their dime! There is no reason your truck should be in any shop sitting for 5 weeks, there is just no excuse for that. I don't care if they were completely replacing the motor, 5 weeks is rediculous.

If they refuse to fix the problem then leave the damn thing there and tell them to give you your money back. This is why Ford has a bad rep because they have no quality control over their TECHS, some are good yes, but most are junk there to collect a pay check and just limp these things along until they are out of warranty.

Also you said you just bought the truck and that it was messed up upon purchase. If you bought the truck from them you should have made sure everything was up to specs before you drove off the lot, just my .02.

This is the kind of service that gives dealerships bad names. Hope you get it worked out bud.

Go to the website. I had to and got some results.
My first balljoint (RT side) went at 20K miles, then again at the next 20K. SInce then they have held up well. I am now at 95K and will need to bite the bullet & have them done. But the dealers will not touch it again. It is out of warranty and there are a bunch of solid mechs around who will do it for me. Heck, I have more faith in the hight school shop class I sub in than the dealer!
Best of luck. Maybe you can get the Mayor of New Orleans and his goons to help you out!
