Walker Big Truck Muffler (BTM)

I really like this thing. Its a little more aggressive then stock and really helped me out with the EGTs. with my edge in level 2 pulling my boat I only have temps over 1200 if I floor it. With the stock muffler I would hit 1200 much faster with only 50% ish throttle. Then on the freeway cruising I see about 100 degrees less maybe 150 at times. A really nice upgrade ! plus if you read around 3.5 inch exhaust will be good enough till you hit big numbers. us stock to mild moders (chip, intake, exhaust)will see no increase in power with a 4 vs 3.5 pipe. Some even report a little less power down low with a 4inch down pipe. There are guys (strokin early 99 for example) making 450+hp with a 3.5 inch down pipe and a wild turbo....

Installing it was a snap. Cut off the stock muffler, remove the S pipe, measure and cut about 8 inches of pipe on the section still on the truck (I removed the section to cut it standing rather then laying on my back) fit it, clamp it and done.

We are on the boat about 20 feet from the back of the trailer (just backed off)

Pulling the boat out of the water. My dad is babying it. I am sitting in the bed on the wheel well

Then pulling around the parking lot to park and tie it down

Those of you looking for a cheap and easy way to get an exhaust, I recommend it highly! A straight pipe is cool, but the family did not dig the sound... I was out votted... With the windows up, you can not tell a difference stock vs BTM

I have been preaching the BTM for years!! The restriction in the stock exhaust isn't the size of the exhaust, it is the factory muffler. My EGT's dropped 100-150 degrees between the AIS/BTM install. Place a 5/8 garden hose into a 6" drainage pipe and it ain't going to flow any more water, but most feel warm and fuzzy by replacing a perfectly good exhaust system. To the OP, I would have it welded in if you haven't already, I'm not a big fan of clamps.

Yup NC, you were one of the reasions I went this route along with Strokin making 450+ hp with a 3.5 dp. The output of the turbo is only 2.5 inches if I remember right so 3.5 is plently. like you say, put a garden hose in a 6 inch pipe, you will not flow anymore.

walker muffler

I ALMOST NEVER POST BUT THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD ONE. I TOO HAVE THE WALKER MUFFLER AND LOVE IT. IT IS A BIT LOWDER BUT WAS A QUICK EASY INSTALL AND OBVIOUSLY MAKES A DIFERENCE. ON MY FIRST F250 I HAD A FLO PRO REPLACEMENT INSTALLED AND IT DID WELL BUT COST NEARLY TWICE AS MUCH. THE WALKER HAS DONE WELL FOR ME.

Any comparisons between straight pipe and the walker muffler with respect to sound? Does running a straight pipe really increase sounds inside the cab - resonating or no real noticeable difference inside the cab - running straight pipe?

What about a hangar for the Walker muffler? Did not see one?

At cruising speed a straight pipe is really no louder in the cab then the BTM. The only time the straight pipe is extremely loud is when you are hard on the throttle

I can hear the difference, straight pipe is louder, I prefer the BTM, the only time I hear the flutter is when I drive near a tall building or large wall when in the city, which isn't often. Then I roll down the window as I like the sound. Before you straight pipe, just know it won't be long before all diesels will be required to pass emissions testing. First part of test is a visual, no muffler, you fail. I hope all those who removed their CAT's saved them!!

I had a BTM welded on by a shop. I thought it sounded retarded right from the start BUT read on...I got so sick of the awful whistling/hissing noise out of it I bought a new exhaust. When I went to change out the stock exhaust with BTM to an aftermarket 4", I noticed the idiot that welded it on put the inlet/outlet on the wrong ends. So don't do that! I can tell you it sounds horrible.
