Train Horns - Tell me what you know!

At first I would read about people installing them and think to my self, why?

Well the other day some bug bit me and now I want some

I have been looking around at many sites and I am a little lost. There are kits that range from 50 bucks to 1,000 bucks. tanks, compressors, no tanks and on demand... Not sure what I really want.

In a perfect world, the tank would mount under the truck on the frame or somewhere like that and I could use the air to inflate my Firestone airbags. now in a even more perfect world, I could use the air to top off a tire if they are low when away from my monster compressor at home.

SO can you guys fill me in on what you got and would you do it again? maybe what kit you got and if you have a sound clip that would be cool too.

and of course cheaper is better, I don't want to dish out 1k for horns. Chrome does not matter since they will be behind the grill and I HATE chrome!

Go to hornblasters.com

They got everything from REAL train horns to budget kits. A good set with quality parts will run you about 500 bux though.

Seige Engineering on Ebay
I was able to get a ViaAir 380c (200psi) compressor, some awesome horns that sound more like a SEMI than a train (which I wanted, much deeper sound, not so high pitch) all valve, wiring, etc and a 5 gal tank for $200 on an auction. Everything brand new. I am setup to air up tires when needed as well.

here is a link to my same kit BuyItNow for $346.88 (except this only has a 1/2 gal tank, mine has a 5 gal)
2 Trumpet Train Horn 2L 200psi Viair 380c Air System - eBay (item 150282879104 end time Sep-12-08 10:04:01 PDT)

here is a clip from Seige Engineering with the setup I have, only at 120psi

these things are LOUD!!!!

BTW, they also let you upgrade the system the way you want
you could add the 5 gal tank for an extra $20 or so.
even get different horns, like the Kong, etc
but I liked the way these trumpets sound just the way they are

I have also been curious about this. I have bags on my truck, can I use the same compressor for my horns as my bags. If so that would be awesome, and im getting them ASAP.

I have an 8" lift and 37" tires, so my spare was useless, took it out and mounted tank, compressor, and horns back there. just had to watch several auctions on this set, and got one at a great price.

I Have to agree......

Seige Engineering on Ebay

1/2 the price of those "air-horn websites" if you watch the auctions and Really LOUD horns that have no equal if you get the 5gal/200psi Complete Systems.
