EGT Questions
I finally got my TW chip, and WOW!
So i was playing with it in the Extreme setting, had my foot burried, and i look up at the pyro and it was readin 1400* So the question is, how high and for how long can i run it over 1250* before i damage stuff? Also, is there anyway i can rig up a light somehow that will light up when the pyro hits 1250*? |

How about a hammer that swings out of the headliner and bangs you in the head. A light would be easier to do though, just get you a circuit board, put some copper traces on it, run a few logic chips, couple diodes, couple of resistors, some LED's, hook it in-line with your temp gauge, box it up and mount it to the windshield right in front of you, with a couple #10 wood screws of course. In other words, It can be done, if you know how to make a PCB to do it. Reguards, Bones ps. In case it missed you, the paragraph was a joke! |

I saw 1500* with my TW this weekend. I didn't even know it. My son (co-pilot) brought it to my attention. I went crazy with my new Wicked Wheel! |

You can cruise all day at 1250 and not hurt a thing other then your pocket book from the fuel going out the tail pipe. Drag racing, pulling and on the dyno you are looking at EGT's over 1600 for 10-15 seconds with no damage, no worries. If your cruising around at 600 and go to make a pass 1600 is fine for 15-20 seconds. You have to heat soak the pistons to do any damage. |

I've wondered the same thing, I've always kept my ol' chevy's EGT's at or below 1100 deg. Can the PS take higher temps? Fresh in my mind, 'cause I also just got a DP Tuner, and hit some high EGTs goin' home the other day, around 1250, backed out of it quick, but I'm sure it hadn't been there for more than a few seconds... but it's good to know that people who run 'em say it's ok to hit higher than that for a while and not worry about harm...
