Nothing Drains from Fuel/Water Seperator

Hey everyone,

New here and love all the great info!

Quick Question, i just replaced my fuel filter on my 01 7.3 and when i finished replacing the filter, i tried to drain any water by turning the yellow lever. Nothing came out of the drain tube??? Is that just as simple as i dont have any water that needs draining, or is the valve or drain hose blocked??? I assumed that at least deisel would come flowing out of the tube???

Thanks for any help.

need to remove the filter , and blow backwards thru the drain hose to blow out the debris , flush out the filter housing and reinstall filter and seal her up

What about having the key on so the fuel pump is running, then open valve for a second, that will flush the line out.

At least you can get the darn thing to move! Last time I changed my fuel filters on my 04' I borke a alan key off in the screw!! One can of PB blaster, new alan key and several hours later got it lose. Something tells me at one point in time there just might have been water in the system.

Attach a short rubber hose to the drain line and then stick a golf tee up the end of it. This will keep mudd daubers and other critters from making homes in the drain line.
