wut the hek?!

Went to the dealership today to look at an 2001 F-250 SC SB 4X4 Lariat. Truck was nice without a scratch on it. Had a str8 pipe and tinted windows. That was it. IT also had some wore out bfg m/ts that needed replacing. Anyway with trade in on my truck the total came out to being 7500. I coulda made the payments but since im going off to college my dad and I figured just to wait and get a really nice truck when I got out. The trucks elec mirrors, cruise control, and door locks didnt work.

THE DEALER ONLY WANTED TO GIVE ME $3500 FOR MY TRUCK!!! WTH. Ive got over $2500 in extras on my truck. I know that the dealer doesnt buy for extras but that would be like buying and F-250 for $1000. We walked away. My trucks tailgate has some dents in it and the front lower parts of both sides of the bed is dented. The truck has 265k but blows no smoke and has no sign of slowing down. When I get the bed fixed what do yall think I could get for the truck selling it out right. Everything works on mine except the door locks?

I hate to say it but fuel prices are driving the values of our trucks down

In my area truck prices are doing better than others. Most 2001 4x4 4dr SB PSD w/ Lariat @ 100k miles going for $15k, any in rough shape or close to 200k miles the price drops waaaay down to $9k, so if you dont mind miles you can get em cheap. But good low mile truck are still well below low book.

I was back east on business and I saw a bunch of the same PSD's for about $10k I was tempted to buy one and drive it home. I saw a 2002 4dr SB 4x4 with 40K miles spotless condition, leveled, 315's, Lariat, leather, DVD totally loaded for $13,500 I almost died.

You will always get more for your truck selling it outright to a private buyer than trying to trade it in.

Yea dealers definitely dont care about the extras, your better off selling the extras separate from the truck, and than selling the truck.

As long as you don't have a set timeline to get rid of your truck, then sell it privately. It could take you a couple of months to sell it or you could get lucky and sell it all in the same day.

The dealers around here if they take a truck on trade they are just dumping it at auction instead on sitting on it so they aren't willing to give much for trades.
