door ajar light comes on

I have a 2000 PSD and the previous owner had to remove the bulbs from the dome lights because the door ajar light will come on at random and then the battery drains. I have a friend with a 99 and he is having the same problem. I don't see where the contact is in the doors for it. has anyone else experienced this and know how to fix it? Thanks for any help.

you are not the first to have this problem, i have known people who have taken there trucks to the dealership and had the swtches in the door replaced to only have it start acting up again after only a short period. i have found the a shot of compressed air in the catch mechanism - clean out any dirt and then a few shots of WD-40 will normaly solve your problems. then once a year or so as preventive maintainence.

Take a look through the tech section. I believe it is in there. If not, PM me and I will get the instruction to you.

The best thing that works is to just spray the latch and the catch with white lithium grease. It works wonders. It doesnt always work imediately but give it a few min and then the sensor will shut off. It lasts a lot longer than the WD 40 too.
