Low EGTs??

I am referring to the truck described in my signature. At idle my EGT drops to 200F. Cruising on the highway I see 300-600F. Are my EGTs low? Especially 200F at idle ... should I suspect inaccuracy in the thermocouple or does it seem reasonable for my setup?

It is tapped pre-turbo into the lowest point on the exhaust manifold drivers side. The behavior of it seems reasonable ... I see no erratic behavior of the gauge. Assuming the connections are good is there anyway to diagnose the faulty component in this circuit?

On a cold engine idling 200* is about right.

Mine reads about 300 at idle but on the interstate at about 65 mph, I only see about 650-700. My probe is in the manifold.
