Put moog's in it. They pack a lifetime parts warranty and are greasable. They tend to last longer than the factory ones as well.

Yeah I have the same year and 4x4 with 180,000 miles and I don't know if mine have ever been replaced. I am not sure if I hear the clunking noises like some of the others. I haven't tried jacking up the truck yet to wiggle the wheels. But a price on the ball joints would be great.

try www.powerstrokeshop.com they have moog's and complete sets with everything you need.

$750 for 2 wheel bearings, orings, and all ball joints for both sides. Something below that for 2 ball joint kits.

Maintain would it be a good idea to do the wheel bearings at the same time. How often do they go out and what happens if you don't change them and keep driving.

Moogs

I would put moogs in. And I dont care what anyone tells you YOU CAN GET GREASABLE UPPERS FOR A 4x4! They have a 90degree zerk fitting. But if you go Ford it will be roughly about $250-$300 for parts and my dealer charges 6hrs.

Thanks Maintain

Thank you for the good info last night. I called Powerstrokeshop this morning and got the low down on the hub bearing and ball joint kit. They were real nice and the first of the week I'll call back and get it ordered. As far as doing ball joints and not doing the hub bearings would be a waste of time. No matter whether you do the balljoints or hub bearings the seals have to be replaced. It's kinda nice to do it all at once ( just a lot of piece of mind) HA!!!!! I do all my own wrench turning and I've been there and done that. thanks again. Hope I can return the favor sometime.

How difficult is this job like how many hours would it take for an average person to do that's not a mechanic but isn't scared to turn a wrench. I have access to lifts and impacts all that good stuff.

I just had mine replaced by a guy that works at the dealer. He got the joints with his discount. I think the uppers are about $70 each, lowers $130 each for the average Joe. I payed $750 which included parts and an alignment, for my buddy to do it. It took him about 1/2 a day for everything.

If you don't replace 'em, your looking at xtreme front tire wear. I had 36" TSL radials and they got fooked in less than 6 months b/c my alignment was out and my ball joints were screwed.

The dealership quoted me $1300 not including parts to do the job. My buddy works at the same dealership, and he did the job AT the dealership in his spare time. He told me that if I had gone through the dealer, he would have ended up doing the work anyway, and would have made A LOT less $$$ for the same work.
