Mileage ?!?!?

How some of you guys get such good mileage???? I read how guys are getting 14-15 somtimes 16 mpg with lifts and big tires and whatever. I live in south florida (as flat as it gets). I've got a leveled '02 CCSB on 325/60-18's with an 80/tow tune around town I get maybe and I mean maybe 12-13mpg on a great day. On the hwy I might be squeeze out 13.5-14mpg. I drive very conservatively and keep it around 2000rpms on the hwy. So how do you guys do it????

make sure fuel filter is clean, every thing else in the drivetrain is well maintained such as differentials, trans case, transmission, motor oil.

try swapping your cps for either a delphi or borg warner cps.

I get 12-14 out of mine... Sometimes 15-16...

Wifes Excursion gets a solid 16...

Make sure your up to par on everything first off... Boost and drive pressure leaks KILL MPG.

people lie. I had a 2wd 7.3 ECSB that got 10-11 MPG around town. It did have 4:10 gears in it though.

What are the signs of a boost leak and what exactly are drive pressures? My truck has 140,000 on the clock. I bought it used with 72,000 miles and have maintained it very well ever since I've owned it. I am putting a WW on it as I've found my stock wheel looks a lil beat up. The WW was a freebie so I figured it can't hurt...I don't think? I also have an ATS housing I just picked up. Maybe I'll throw that on too, or is that to much?

Do you have gauges?

Drive pressure is Exhaust back pressure, from the motor to the turbo. Drive pressure makes boost. If you have drive pressure leaks from bad up pipes, your MPG will suffer.

As the the WW/housing...

I would install the ATS housing for a fix for surge, and then save up and get the RiffRaff Compressor wheel that is made to go with ported housings.

Riffraff Diesel: Riffraff Diesel Billet Compressor Wheel - Ported Housing

The old style WW moves less air then the stocker for a given RPM, which is why it fixes surge.

I have a boost gauge. Looking at getting an egt gauge here shortly. My boost is somewhere in the 14-16 lbs area. I see no kind of soot on the pipes going to the turbo but the boots around the spider thing are a little dirty/oily. Is that something to check out? And would it be ok to run the WW with the housing until I can get (might be a lil while) the riffraff wheel? Thanks Kelly
