Why did someone dig up this thread, it was better off to just let it die!! What hasn't been mentioned up til now is that doing this Top End Oil Change is a excellent way to introduce air into your HPO system, so when you can't get her to start, or she runs like a dog, don't ask me why!!! NCH |

ive tried to tell them kevin, noone seems to want to listen, and the fact that the other 2 quarts left in the oil rails and injectors , what to do with that

Whats the procedure for "bleeding" the HPOP system? You think air isnt introduced when you pull the drain plug? You think air isnt introduced when you pull the filter? You think their isnt already air IN the engine? What does the engine do with that air?....It ends up leaving by way of crancase ventilation. Since the oil system is ALL one unit as everyone keeps repeating, isnt it logical that air will work its way out to the crancase? You would have to leave a ton of air in there for it to not start. |

Doing the top end oil change is a waste of time. Besides it may not cause a no start. But it can and will cause a hard start.

Wouldn't it make more sense to install a bypass oil filtration system like the FS-2500?

To the nay sayers, explain me one thing? Before I decided to do the "top end change", I did a regular oil change when I first got the truck, and then I pulled some oil from the reservoir and compared it to the dipstick oil, the oil from the reservoir was really alot darker than the oil from the pan when compared on a clean white rag.... Wouldnt you have to agree this shows that in fact the oil does not drain back well enough to circulate the top end oil? That simple comparison was my reasoning to do it...

Depending on how you flush a transmission it can be good or bad for it. I suck the reservoir dry but I also fill it up so the truck starts easier. It is just a habit I got into a while ago thanks to OCD. I figure the more old oil I can drain out and replace with fresh oil is better. ![]() Besides what my guy's videos... they're G-R-E-A-T!! |

there was a write on up here i think, or at least a link to it about flushing. basically envolved takin the return line from the tranny and puttin it in a drain pan and have someone keep addin fluid while the other cycled through the gears until fluid turned pretty.
also, the method most, at least i am doing is sucking a qt out and refilling with clean a total of 3 or 4 times, running engine in between. will not get 100% of the oil out but sure as hell will help. |
