What is the possibility of putting an e4od inplace of a 4r100. what would it take?

I thought they were the same except for some internal differences with the 4r100 being better?

Lightbulb

I understand that much, but what are the diffrances. Why is the 4r100 suposed to be better? Will my computer be able to comunicate with the e4od?
