Smells like burnt coolant

I have an early 99 7.3 f350. I have had it for about 3 weeks now and have put about 700 miles on it with no trouble. Alls i did was change the oil beacuse i wasnt sure when it was last changed. Today i was in a hurry and ran it at WOT for about 3 miles. The temp gauge didnt budge but when i got to my location it smelled like burnt anti freeze really bad. I checked the anti freeze and didnt see a drastic amount missing. After that i let it sit for a few hours then drove normal with no problem. Any leads?
