damn white smoke

02 f250, 7.3 123k. Truck get's started every two to three days. As of late, when I start it, let it run a minute or so then take off, it's smokes out half the street. white smoke. Have read that it's unburned fuel at the top of the piston. Sure is a lot of unburned fuel. This only happens 1 to 2 times out of \every ten start ups. any ideas? thanks.

hi my 99 does the same thing. it has remanned inj earlier this year and all glow plugs work as designed. the smoke goes away if left idling in a few minutes or 3/4 of mile after driving off. since my coolant never changes need adding to, i assume mine is either poor compression ( mine had one of those "performance" cones when i bought it) or an injector that isn't right. i will do a cyl contribution test today. i recommend you do the same if you have access to auto enginuity or other scanner.
