Boost numbers?

I was wondering what kind of boost numbers guys are seeing with stock turbo, no chip and 4 inch exhaust. I have never seen mine hit more than 17psi at wot. I just put in bellowed up pipes to replace leaky stockers and there was no change in top boost numbers.

Could I need to adjust the wastegate somehow?

For more info, it does seem to build boost faster with the new up pipes.

Any info is appreciated

You're okay. I'm completely stock. No turbo mods, tunes, anything. Just a 6637 and straight piped to a 4" Y-pipe dumped in front of the tire. I can only get 18 on a good day.

Okay that sounds better. My buddy with an early 99 hits 23psi with just an exhaust and hypertech programmer. Course I just remembered that the early 99's have a different turbo. But he said that he adjusted the wastegate to get from around 20 to 23.

I'm not worried about the number as long as the truck runs good. And with no smoke and 17mpg highway I'm pretty satisfied. But hey if there is a free way to make it better why not?

17-18 is about as high as you can get with a truck running the stock tuning.

with a good chip and billet compressor wheel, you can see in the 30's.

and tightening down the stock wastegate can help, the stock wastegate isnt very good.

i hit 24psi with mine, reading off my torque app. This was pulling a 10,000lb 28' enclosed car trailer loaded down. I was pulling up a hill and it kicked down out of OD @ 70mph. I do have my wastegate unhooked.

on a empty WOT run i get around 18-19psi.

17psi is normal for a bone stock setup. With the wastegate unhooked you can see around 24. Add a chip/programmer to that and you can see 30+.

My truck with wastegate unhooked, big a/f, 4 inch exhaust, AIH delete, gen 1 WW and ported intake manifold I hit 26.
