exhaust advice

have a 01 7.3 and im looking at a chip for it. It currently has and intake and i just delete the muffler. so my question is i was looking at getting a 4 inch exhaust but would like the chip first the stock exhaust is 3 1/2 inches will that 1/2 inch make much of a difference, or should i put the bigger exhaust befor the chip?

You will see a slight (.5 for me) boost in mpg by going to a 4" down pipe and exhaust. If I had it to do over again I'd just do a muffler delete honestly.

Or php Phoenix for same price with better tunes although you won't throw much coal, just have nice clean power.
