Weight in the bed?
I have noticed that when I run empty the truck bounces all over the road and rides REALLY ruff (yea I know it’s a ton truck!) but when I put maybe 400 ish pounds in the bed it rides really nice! Almost feels like a different truck! And the best part is that the truck does not even know its there performance wise. So I was going to get a few bags of sand and throw them between the 5th rails and run. Or maybe fill a 55gal drum with water and strap it to the rails.
Anyone else do something like this for a better ride? Or am I just lame? |

i have noticed the same thing... on long trips i would usually put 6 sacks of cement all the way at the rear of the bed to help out the bounce..... only real ways to fix it is softer springs like deavers, shocks, and maybe something like the solastic rubber shackles....
let me know if you have any more questions.... |

I have a 50gal aux tank with a tool box over the tank. That is over 800lb and it makes my truck ride real nice. Empty it sucks.

Fill it with water/coolant so it won't rust as easy but still add weight.
Fuel costs are killing me! |

The 50 gal is an IDEA!
I have to fill up every other day at about 120 to 135. If I got it all at once what would be the differance? |
