what are fire rings for, i was looking on a site and saw then. just wondering what the are for.

Fire Rings are used for extreme applications are an addition to head studs to use Fire Rings you have Grooves machined in to the heads around were all 8 cylinders meet the heads and this makes for a near indestructible head gasket combo and can handle extreme pressure upwards of 100 PSI

That what I've seen advertised on quite a few sites but have never personally used just going by what I've read

on Black Widow Diesel they say WOP fire ring kit 7.3
Tired of Blown Head Gaskets? So were we, that’s why we developed the fire ring kit for the 7.3L PSD. Eliminate head gasket problems with our fire ring system, includes 8 solid steel fire rings to seal the combustion chamber and two gaskets that have the same sealing characteristics (oil and water) as stock head gaskets. We have run this setup at boost levels over 100LBS on our Race Truck. Accurate machining is extremely important and re-torque is essential.

There is a machine shop in Petaluma, Ca makes their own set of fire rings. They keep getting told that the WOP fire rings are on back order. The built the engine for Bryan Kenny(psychostroker) and he made over 600hp on fuel and over 800 on N2O without ever blowing a head gasket(or a factory forged rod).......Aparrently he knows what he is doing.

whole hell 600 on fuel and 800 on N2O!
