Question Compressor Wheel Design

I generally have no knowledge on how the design of a compressor wheel makes the difference between an earlier spool, & getting left in the dust. Before I installed the Banks compressor wheel, I compared it to the stock compressor wheel, practically using a magnifying glass. On the stock compressor wheel, the blades are all the same size, when on the Banks wheel, every other blade is about half the size. The blades are angled the same on both, the width(looking @ the thickness from the side NOT the diameters!) are the same. & they seem to be made out of the same material. It's incredible how by just changing every other blade, I get much better turbo performance, surging is virtually eliminated, & I always have boost when I need it! Can anyone give me a science lesson on compressor wheels?
