Question Max Boost Question

I currently have the stock turbo on my '99 PSD. I have the banks six gun, and my wastegate disconnected. I can sometimes hit 29psi of boost if I get on it really hard. The problem is that the six gun goes into alert and reverts back to stock, and the MAP sensor kicks on the SES light. Now what I would like to know is if there is any way to avoid the MAP sensor going out of range and kicking on the SES light, because I want to replace my turbo, and the one I am looking at can possibly boost to 60psi. That which is way out of range for the MAP sensor. I'd like to run higher boost withou all that and the six gun shutting down. Any suggestions?

You can get a dual relief from black cloud which will fool the map sensor I'm not sure about the six gun though. Heres the link for Black Cloud http://blackclouddiesel.com/Ford/ourfordstuff.htm. Hope this is of some help.

Oh and by the way if you plan on goin over 45 lbs. of boost you might wanna check on gettin your head studs done as the stock head bollts dont have the strength to hold past that much boost. And if you wanna see how good your truck is, there is gonna be a truck pull in Ft. Myers at the Sheriffs Posse Arena on Jan 7. The enrty fee is only $20 bucks and the weight limit is 8000#.

Thanks 'lilred. I wondered what those releif valves were for. That truck pull sounds good, for one I will be up in Ohio after Christmas, and two I don't know about those pulls. I afraid to break the truck. I've seen alot of videos with serious damage done. And what about 2 wheel drives? Thats what mine is. I'm going to stick with 1/4 mile runs for now.

Oh by the way, the six gun gets its info from the MAP sensor, so I guess if the sensor is fooled, then the six gun would be too.

It would make sense that that the six-gun would be fooled too then if thats the case. I'm not sure whats worse pullin or draggin. But its a Ford so it should be able to handle it. Any way I'm not sure about the two wheel drive class either, they have two wheel drive class but the trucks that pull in those class usually pull the front wheels off of the ground so I dont think you would wanna pull against them. No offense. By the way how fast are you in the quarter and where do ya' race??? I'd like to see how fast (read slow) mine is in the quarter.

I haven't actually taken it to a real track yet. I've only done estimated runs against cars and other trucks, and compare to their times. It sounds goofy, but I just started modifying the truck 3 months ago, and I'm trying to get some kinks worked out. But to answer your question, I've estimated at about 14.7. Not too bad for 7500lbs, but I want another second to a second and a half off of that. You have to let me know when the next pull around here is, I might consider it. I didn't even know they had one in Ft Myers. Its too bad I won't be here because I'd like to check it out. There is one once a year here in Charlotte County, I don't know when though, I plan to find out though. And turborushman, or whatever that word is , You disconnect the little red hose that goes to the wastegate and plug it. The stock turbo, or even if you have some upgrades, doesn't make enough boost to hurt. But any technician will probably be against the idea. It gave me an extra 5-7psi from where I was at.

RJacks you're crew cab dually weighs just 7500 pounds?? did you have it weighed? Sounds light for that body and cab configuration. Also, as lilred said - do yourself a favor and get head studs. Since you have a 2wd you might be okay to pull. I've seen more front hubs go out on 4x4 superdutys pulling than anything else. As long as you have good u-joints you should be alright.
