Can i take the ECM out of a newer 7.3, and put it into my 99?

What is your build date? If you have an early 99 and a auto trans, any of the pcm's listed below will work better than the one you have now. The PMT series is the best.

If you have a late 99, the 01 and up will be a nice upgrade and the PMT is still the best.

I’m pretty happy with the 01 PMT1 computer I put in my early 99. It made it shift a little better and definitely has more power without the chip. Easy to swap, took 10 minutes and cost $75.

When I ordered my BTS valve body they were very happy when I told them I had the PMT1 computer and the valve body is what finally fixed my shifting problems.

My original computer was an XLE4 which I fried and replaced with an XLE8 before I knew about the PMT.

Thanks to strokin and all the early 99 guys for the advice.
