Ok I know this is a hijack, but I have a VDH4 in my '02. Would it be worth changing my pcm out for a different one?

I swapped my early 99 XLE4 pcm for a 2001 PMT3 pcm, and the truck definetly shifter better and I liked the changes it made, but with the PMT pcm, my injectors were very noisy when accelerating (like really really noisy), so I decided to swap my old XLE4 pcm back into the truck to see if the old pcm would run any different...... well the injector noise is at a minimum right now with the XLE. Jody @ DP sent me several PMT and XLE files on the chip to test out which ran the best in my truck, and it turns out that the the PMT shifts better, but the XLE sounds and runs better....

I think I need to call Jody and see if he can do something with the tuning for the PMT to get the injectors to quiet down then I might switch back to it from the XLE.

I switched from XLE4 tuning to PMT1 tuning and my truck runs absolutely awesome. It shifts a ton better as well. I had the same tuning with both PCM's and had a chip from DP and TW at the time of the PCM swap. I can say without a doubt that the PMT runs a lot better and shifts like I want it to. I have since had Jody live tune my truck and that made it so much nicer to drive. It is truly a lot of fun to drive.

Southpaw, if Judy felt you needed PMT tuning, he would have done that custom work on your chip already. I doubt you will see any gain from changing unless you do a ton of mods and then Jody prefers the PMT tuning.

You said Oh snap...

I think I copied it from one of your posts or from one of Jody's 10billion emails.

My original computer was an XLE4 which I fried and replaced with an XLE8 before I knew about the PMT.

Thanks to strokin and all the early 99 guys for the advice.
I have a xle4 pcm I'll sell you.

That confuses and scares me. My xle4 is junk at best for even day-to-day driving.

Stage 2 singles? My stage 3's sound like an old farm tractor. PM me for details, I'd like to compare notes.

Heck I wouldn't go back to the XLE if you gave it to me, PMT is the way to go.

DIRK:

Yup, my injectors are 160cc single shots. With the XLE4 pcm the truck runs MUCH quieter than with the PMT3. I like the way the truck drives and shifts with the PMT, but the injectors make sooooo much noise with that pcm that I had to switch back to the XLE. Again, I definetly need to call Jody for some advice.
