Where did you get 420 from it is 320 hp,and I have a question where could I find a used 12V cuz the powerstroke parts r too price for the small horsepower gains I want to drop a 12V n it and mod it up.

A bully dog programmer and a few other things gets 550 horse? Again, what are the other things, what year is your buddies truck? Auto/manual? Stock/built/clutch? etc....
When it comes down to it, Cummins 5.9 and the Duramax have and continue to flat out dominate in racing. There is no Ford PSD powered vehicle so far that I am aware of that has gone faster than Zane Koch's 7.3 obs, best of 10.86, and that's actually not very quick compared to what the Duramax and Cummins powered vehicles have achieved up to now. It's good to be loyal to the brand you love, but you're forgetting who sits on top when making tremendous power and setting records, PSD's are in 3rd among the big 3's engines. Banks' Sidewinder Type D has run 7.72, there are also at least 2 or 3, perhaps more Duramaxes that have run lower than 10 seconds. The Scheid rail, 7.0 1/4, Jimmy and Dale Smith's 4x4 drag truck 9.75. As mentioned before, if you're gonna say something provide some back up, preferably something other than spew.
Ya the duramaxes are making crazy power with just intake , exhaust , and efi live

True, until Toyota finally decides to hop on board with diesels I bet that they'll sell pretty well here.

Just curious where you go it dyno'd.

Even @420 hp, how did you walk a 550hp(is this a dyno#?) truck? And please don't say becuse you're a better driver...please
Oftentimes the V engines can do a bit better with less horsepower due to a broader rpm band, and average power can beat peak power but there's just no way a 550 hp diesel of any brand will lose to a 300ish truck....no way, unless the numbers are way off for the trucks, or the power isn't getting to the ground.

Did you have your truck dyno'd? Post a sheet if you did, it beats the naysayers. At 320 hp, you'll likely run in the 15's.....any other rig with over 200hp more than you isn't going to lose unless there's a major issue somewhere.

how do you like your cummins? I like the lower power range of the inline compared to my 6.0 but once spooled it's a ton of fun

My $.02 The dodge is only great for the cummins. Everything else is junk. I have a buddy with a 06 and he passenger side window falls off track if you roll it down, the "wood grain" interior clips are broken (never taken apart though) and his front end has a loud clunk and bang when he hits pot holes.

IMO, I'd stick with the 2nd gen dodges... the 12v and 24v 2nd gens are real nice bullet proof trucks (if you had a manual)... The weakest points in those trucks were the 46re, and the posi in the rear... other then that, they were awesome trucks.

As to the upper and lower control arms... Those will and have taken a harder beating then you can imagine. They are very tough indeed.

And last time I checked an f150 had IFS & a half ton axle.... the 3500 has a straight axle 3" springs... as well as a boxed frame with upper & lower control arms mounting to said frame, and usually a dana 60 front and dana 70 or 80 rear end.... so were does an f150 come into competition with the dodge 3500?

Oh, wait, it doesnt..

I cant say I like the new dodges... But I can say I like the old ones... despite the CAD system. IMO thats really the only thing the 2nd gen ram gave up to the fords of the same time period... But maybe I'm wrong.

If you buy a truck, you expect it to drive.... right? So why buy a truck with a sub par motor? trim and window motors are cheap... a brand new diesel engine, or parts to fix said engine are not.

all I'ma say.
