transmission vent filter

I've talked to quite a few people about my transmission acting up and most have told me to change transmission vent filter. I went to NAPA today and bought one, but, I can't for the life of me find one on my truck. I was told it would be a vent line from transmission located inside frame rail on driver side but I didn't see anything. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. Billy

It sounds like someone pointed you towards the differential vent tube. The transmission vent is on top of the trans and loops around toward the transfercase. It might be a year specific thing but I have never seen one with a filter. The main issue you will have is the transmission building up pressure and blowing fluid out if the vent is clogged. If your issue is something else than the vent probably won't help.
