Odd stutter/knock

So as I'm driving down the road especially when it's cold around 2000 rpm it's got this very odd stutter. Can see it on the tach but def can feel it. Then it has a kind of injector knock. When it does it smokes a lil. Sounds like its towards the rear of the engine. Seems to run fine orherwise. Anybody else have this going on? I feel it's fuel related I'm trying to rig a gauge in the cab but figured if someone might know what it is. Thanks!!

it could be the number 8 injector being noisy.

But could it be that injector causing a stutter? I put the frx on it and it was really quiet but then I had problems with icp and ipr and fuel issues. Now it's loud again. Could it be low fuel pressure?

well if the injectors get louder it can be a sign of them going bad.
although it could be fuel and oil related also.
what issues were you having before?

It had this really odd idle and had no power. I replaced the icp and Ipr and ebps. Ran great. Then it started doing it again but only if you take it to wot for a sec or two. I dropped the tank and took out the pickup screens and ran new fuel line with filter to the pump. But it does this very odd thing when I change positions with my chip. When idling, if I change from 140 to 100, rpm starts pulsing. Then idles rough. I was thinking it might be the chip causing all of this but have you heard of these "going out"? I put a scanner on it and my icp pressure was strong but I couldn't see fuel pressure. I do want stage 1's but can't afford them yet

id make sure your chip was seated good.

if that doesn't do do it take the chip off and see how it goes.

one thing that helped my rough idle was replacing the fuel pressure relief.
the brass poppet with the o-ring that goes into the fuel bowl was so worn out.
your suppose to have to tap it out with a screw driver mine just pulled out by hand. and the o-ring wasn't really an o-ring anymore.
dieselorings and riffraff sell the kits.

if your not getting good fuel pressure that could explain your lack of performance on the top end.

just a suggestion hope it helps.
