Sux to hear and I can't say that I have not thought of the same thing. I have even thought of buying a Dodge to stay in a diesel and get better mileage. Not sure what I am going to do. I did buy a ricer to run around in...so that helps.

The price of regular gas is 3.85 here and diesel is 4.29 and there isnt that great of a difference when you have to fill up. I had an 06 F150 and hated it got 14 mpg driving like an old man...couldnt tow a pea over a speedbump without being in the throttle all the time. I traded my 06 in for my 01 PSD and havent had ANY second thoughts..gas is supposed to be 4.00+ this summer and diesel is supposed to level out at 4.50 tops because of the truckers strikes and such.. think it threw a little longer.. just my .2 cents

Are you in Sonora, Mexico? If so, why aren't you buying the diesel there...its only $2.06 a gallon the last time I checked.

I had a 5.4 and I can say there is no way it could even come close to the mpg I get with the 7.3. Not to mention, over 2 times the amount of fuel to haul the same load of quads to the dunes.

And as far as weekly driving.... in the F150 I went through about $40-$50 (back when regular was $2) every two weeks and now I only go through about $25 every two weeks.

Whatever you decide though, you'd better not leave here!!!!!!!!!!

Get a bike and keep the truck. You can't beat 45 mpg that you can get with a bike and if you have a carpool lane you can ride in that too.

Sawyer1, I would say pencil it out, unless you drive a ton of miles, it seems like the difference in fuel costs between the two trucks can't be that much.

I would focus on getting as much mpg as you can out of the diesel and maybe driving less. Don't forget about the possibly higher license cost on the newer truck plus the money you're spending to trade.
