Chip Removal from 2002 Ford 7.3 Diesel PCM
Hello everyone, I own a 2002 F-350 Auto 7.3 powerstroke.
I just replaced my engine with a freshly rebuilt 7.3. I was scared that I the previous owner had installed a programer of some sort. The truck felt VERY strong and would Blow a plenty of black smoke out by just reving it up in neutral.
So I took it to a shop to have my PCM flashed. He keep the truck for two days and told me the software was unable to install due to codes being thrown. So finally he told me he was able to by-pass it and completed the update install.
So when I picked it up it felt the exact same. So I did some reading and decided I wanted to remove the PCM and send it away to be flashed.
Once I removed my PCM I noticed it had a chip pluged into the PCM where should have been a black cover.
So my question to everyone is -
__Can I remove the chip and reinstall my PCM and be back to stock?
__Or will I still have to have my PCM flashed after I remove the chip in order for it to be returned to stock?
