i do mine every 4 or 5k, i dont think changing it at 3 will hurt anything but your wallet maybe, obviously the issue is changing oil later rather than sooner

10,000+

No doubt about it, I am good to go for 10,000+miles on mine. I use the AmsOil, which I would just swear by. It is 15W40 Marine/Diesel. I also have installed a dual oil filter system and use the AmsOil filters. Change every other time.

i reccomend every 4k....this gives you a little leighway......if your thinkin about it and have time...it may get done below 4k....and if not....it still gives you time to do it before 5k if you go over.....i would not reccomend going over 5k.....this would be like your kidneys not puting good filtered blood in your body....it is what keeps your motor alive and is the single most important service..........Marc

I go roughly 3k, sometimes I just can't do it then and there so I'll end up a couple hundred miles over. I run 15W40 Rotella T and Motorcraft filter. I change the fuel filter every other oil change. I'm at 3500 on this oil, haven't had time to change it yet between working on the bikes and the house and everything else that doesn't include chnging the oil, so I've been driving the Tbird instead. Of course with the work I've put into the bird I could have changed the oil in the truck a couple of times by now.

Edit: Done now, figured I should do it before the snow hits here.

this may be overkill....but ill bet your motor has less problems and lasts longer than the others.....over the long haul anyways.......kinda funny how "going overboard" pays off in the end......Marc

Yeah I keep telling myself its overkill, but at the same time I'm pretty obsessive compulsive about maintenance on it. I have a habit of fixing stuff before it breaks/wears out.
