Blackstone report

I did my first Blackstone report at 100K, I bought it with just over 80K on it a few years back.

It only gets used for towing basically. Tows my toyhauler, about 10K loaded, and my boat, about 3k. I use Amsoil Synthetic 15/40 it has about 4k on it since the last oil change.

The only thing out of range is Iron, but im thinking it may be that it was just last year I started towing the toyhauler so the engine is finally being used for what it was built for and that's to tow! Its always been just a driver not a hauler its short life so far.

I usually change the oil once a year in June since I only do but less than 5k on it. This year might be more now with the toyhauler and starting in September it will be used at least once a month for towing that.

What everyone's opinion on the report?

The oil did shear out of grade a bit, 12.27 is a heavy 30 weight, most 40 wts are in the 12.5-16 range. But with a high flash point and little fuel in the sample that is nothing to concern yourself about.

Other than that it looks fine, do you really need to spend the big bucks on Amsoil with such little use?

Thanks for the reply...

I use Amsoil because I do keep it in for so long between oil changes, Im not sure about other oils but Amsoil has a 12 month or 15k interval. The trucks sits alot and when its not sitting its being used as the truck was intended for, to tow.

Over the 12 months it only cost me about $12 a month with oil filter. I know its alot compared to what I can use but knowing I don't have to worry about it for a year is nice.

I use Amsoil as well. I like using an oil that was intended for our trucks when they were designed. Today's oils are meant for the newer trucks.

Good lookin' truck btw.

Most OEMs say 12 months is fine for whatever the factory spec oil is. I believe that is true for a 7.3 as well.

Regardless the engine seems to be wearing fine.
