Fairly sure that injectors will no longer operate before oil pressure to the lower end is completely out. Can someone confirm this? I had a HP hose go out near La Pine Oregon. Oil everywhere. Napa store in La Pine made me a new one. Took a little while to get the air out of the high pressure oil in the heads. Last edited by Diesel Monkey : 03-21-2008 at 08:41 PM. |

our injectors use high pressure oil to operate, if you lose your oil pressure, your injectors will stop firing, thus shutting the motor down. This happened to me on my old 97. Drain plug was stripped, and fell out 11 miles after an oil change!! Truck shut off, and I got out in time to watch the last 5-6 quarts of oil drian out the hole. No damage at all done to the truck. Except for the stripped oil plug. you're fina as far as that goes...As far as the oil leak goes, trace the oil to the source. The valley is a great place to look for oil. Could be the HPOP o-rings or pedestal o-rings. Check it out and let us know what you find. I had a leak on my 02 that I chased for 2 months, it can be aggrivating, but you'll get it. Good Luck later |

My 02 did it also. It was one of my hpop o rings. Leaked like it was coming out of a faucet. I got the three o ring kit from Ford and chaged them myself. Here is a link to another useful thread for ya. Good Luck !
