Advise/suggestions please, need a new motor

Well, long story short, I need a replacement engine for my 2001 7.3. I've got a pinhole on the top of the block putting coolant in the oil. I'm convinced there's something else going on too, because i had steam coming out the exhaust, which i can't see being caused from the pinhole.

At any rate, i need this truck running, and soon, so i'm looking at either reman long block or whole drop in engine.

Does anyone have any suggestions on vendors for either? I've been looking at blackwaterengines.com for the long block, price seems reasonable, and i like that i can get the mods installed that they offer, and not have to worry about that later.

I've been looking at complete "drop in" engines as well, mostly through various ford dealers listing them online. the prices are painful, but i'm thinking till i pay someone to finish off a longblock, i'll be in the same boat, except a bunch of used parts on a new block.

I don't really want to spend the kind of money this is going to take, but i need the truck. I know there's lots of running "drop ins" available on ebay and the like, but i'd really rather just drop a little more and know what i have.

My ideal would be to find a drop in that had some of the mods offered with the blackwater longblock; arp studs, upgraded valve springs, forged rods, etc.

I'd appreciate any input or leads on reputable vendors. Thanks.
