7.3 roll away thump

What causes the roll away thump on the 7.3's?

I dont know what you meen buy roll away thump,but the cab heater will make that noise

The thump happens after it's put in R or D. And only happens once every start up.

I don't know. Mine has done it for YEARS. Most of the time while it's in park, right after I start it up.....Come to think of it, it hasn't done it since I've had my tranny rebuilt....I'll let you know if it does.

If its doing it right after start up and it sounds like its coming from the floor area Its the heater blend door opening up

Its what controls which vents the heat comes out of. It switches it from defrost, to floor or dash vents

So thats what that noise is. My girl friend has asked about it a couple times. Sometimes its a few seconds after its started. I thought i was the starter.

wow, how loud is it on yall trucks? mine is a rather harsh thud and its loud. kind of shakes the floor.
