1.0 unwastegated exhaust housing

Does anyone know some pros and cons about installing a 1.0 non-wastegated exhaust housing on a stock turbo. The guy at beans diesel said I wouldn't notice any difference at the low end, but would have a noticeable power gain in the mid range and top end. Would this create any problems with EGTs or overboosting and damage the engine? Was wondering if anyone has this setup and if they like it or not.

I have the same housing, just installed on my rebuilt turbo. I am hitting 28 PSI no problem. I notice I have quicker cool down times. Lower egts on the interstate, and lots more power in the upper RPMs. I like it alot. Its spools SO fast!!! get one if youre pondering it, its worth it

So it spools up pretty quick? I was worried that it would spool slower (that's what I keep hearing about the bigger housing) and the throttle response would suck at lower rpms.

I havent noticed any difference in the spool from the factory one. You would think it spools slower, but I think that The compressor housing has alot to do with spool too. Bigger comp housing, takes longer for the boost to hit. But, with bigger comp housings, you usually have bigger turbo anyhow.

^^^^^What he said. Lower EGT's while towing as well. Lower EGT's all around allow for more aggressive tuning to be run and keep the EGT's in check.

It is a win-win situation.
