Alternative Fuel Question: Trans Fluid

I was at the local Ford Training center and bio came up. Of coarse the Ford guys had their bad things to say about guy who screwed up making bio but I guy there was saying that a guy at his dealer was putting used auto trans fluid into his tank, no mixing, just running on trans fluid.. This BS??

I wouldn't suggest it for two reasons

One being it's not supposed to be in there and chances are somethin's gonna blow.
The second being that ATF is red, so if you run it you better pray to God the DOT never dips you.

Supposed to be an old diesel tech trick, to use it as a injector cleaner, because of the detergents in it. Its thinner than motor oil, which people have run in a powerstroke before but running any of them straight is going to create problems.

The newer the truck the more a risk you have to destroying a good motor, but if you are talking a high mileage motor that is at the end of its life, some will take there risks to see how many free miles they can get out of the motor.

I had a friend who got stopped by a "diesel cop" (DOT) the other day.

He thought it was a typical cop. The officer just asked him to step out of his truck then opened up his fuel cap, dipped, and told him his ticket for $2000 (the minimum here) would be in the mail as he walked back to the car


...So I wouldn't suggest putting anything that even remotely resembles red in your fuel tanks, because now that fuel has skyrocketed the DOT's are expecting people to run dyed diesel to save a buck.

Tikals got a point about getting dipped.

I wonder what would happen if you had a locking cap and you said you left the key for it at home?

Also there was QUITE the thread about it recently that I'm sure with some quick searching could be resurfaced. Basically it's bad for your motor!

U know what would be cool. I Get rid of stock fuel cap and modify it so its flush and get a big magnet and maybe hide the front fuel cap to a dumbazz copper? hhaha some kind of hidden fuel cap for the front tank and run a small diesel tank in the rear. they will never look in the bed for a fuel cap... just rambling but i know im on to something
