A friend has offered to sell me his 2002 F-250 7.3. It is an XLT, supercab, 4X4 with 110,000 miles on the clock. No mods but for a 4-inch exhaust. He has changed the oil every 5,000 or so miles and has taken good care of the truck. He wants $16,500 for the truck. Good deal?
I'm new to diesel but have studied that the 7.3 is super reliable. The transmission seems ok to me but would think this could go with so many miles on the clock. Thanks for any input. |

I can't comment on the price as I don't know what they are going for in you area. However, that isn't a lot of miles for this engine (mine has 331K), if it has been maintained then it is unlikely to give you a lot of problems. If you do get it, carry a spare CPS (Cam position sensor) with you, these are prone to go out and leave you stranded if you don't have a spare.
I am sure others will be along to chime in with their opinions as well. All in all, I can't say enough good things about mine. Good luck with the purchase. And welcome to the .ORG. Craig |

that price doesnt seem tooo high but it could be better. If it is clean and strong try to talk him down to 15 or 15.5K.

To me that seems like a close to fair price. I bought mine from a local lot for $20K off the lot with everything in my sig on it except for the ZooDad mod. I love my diesel and wouldn't have anything else! When I bought mine, she had 119K on the clock. My friend is a wholesale buyer for another local lot and he was telling me 119K on a diesel, it's still a baby.

Perhaps offer to split the cost of a transmission service, to check the condition.

That's a fair price.
I bought my 02 F-250 Crewcab w/110K on it in Dec. 06 for $22K. At the time it Bluebooked at $25K. Mine is a Lariat with captains chairs, heated leather seats, sunroof, etc... Now it's 15 months later, It's a supercab vs. CC, and you maybe don't have th lariat?? IDK I think a buddy could do better, but it is a fair price IMO. BTW - if the truck is stock and he has been taking care of it well, like you said, then I wouldn't be too worried about the tranny. Oh and :welcome: to the .org! |

WVProsecutor: You from West Virginia? Where? I'm in New Martinsville... Welcome to the org... this is a great place to find help for these trucks...
That's a reasonable price on the truck you're lookin' at... |

sounds reasonable to me. Thats nothing for mileage, its hard to find anything under a 100k miles under 20k thats not beat to crap around here (eastern PA)
