New to Forum and New to PSD 7.3

Hi Guys, I am new to the forum and have just purchased a 2001 7.3 PSD. Questions I have are my truck when it is cold will act like it has a miss running down the road 45-55 mph. Doesn't neccessarily need to be under a hard accelaration. It also has a hissing noise until it warms up also, almost like a valve is shutting. The truck came from up north around Milwaukee and another guy told me that they have a different set-up such as a heat riser would work on the older gas engines? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also the speedo is off about 6 mph, can the dealer fix this? Thanks Again!

the hissing is the exhaust back preasure valve. I disconected mine. its a 2 wire plugin found on the under side of the turbo compresor housing.

the missing might posbily be a bad injector or a bad conection on the under valve cover wiring harness going to the injectors. might have an injector buzz test done.

the dealership should be able to recalibrate your speedometer. if not you will have to get some thing like tru speed or speed wizard to compensate for it. any off road shop should be able to hook you up with one of those but id check the dealer first.

Welcome to the site. The hissing noise is the EBPV closing to aid in engine warm up. Its perfectly normal. Some people disconnect it. Also are there larger than normal tires on the rig. That may be why the speedo is off
