Buying a E99 with blown engine need advice

Im buying an E99 4x4 6 speed with a blown engine to convert my 01 crew cab to 6 speed. After I do the swap Ill put the spare parts back in the E99 but it will need an engine rebuild. I dont want to build it stock so Im looking for a machine shop in my area or atleast in California since "googling" isnt going to cut it,a good performance rebuild kit etc. Looking for any and all input on the project.

I have not heard too many reviews about the machine shops in this area. I have only used one machine shop, and it was only to press wrist pins in on a gas engine. However, any machine shop with the right equipment and some experience should be able to do the job as far as block and head prep.

How much HP are you shooting for? That will help answer how much you need to put into the rebuild.

Im hoping for 5-600hp but that may be a little far fetched without 8-9K. The black mamba was going to be my "quick fix" but I have read alot of bad things about them

Anything over 500HP will start to get costly on a 7.3L. I too have not heard the best reviews on the black mamba engine that is offered.
