Need two new injectors

I got my contribution test back today and they said that cyl 2 and 8 are weak. The dealer thought that it might be from the dirt that was plugging up my in tank pickup went hurt these two injectors. I looked on ebay and found Pensacola diesel is selling remaned injectors for 99 a piece with a 12 month warranty. Is this a good deal? Anyone else have better ideas? I need to get this thing going quick.

Love the Dealerships.... We dont know whats wrong... but start throwing parts at it...

Very doubtful you have any bad injectors If you were to have any bad ones, It would not be #8 as its the last one to get fuel from the dead head system ford blessed us with...

Check the wire harness, UVC, when did they do the test? Warm I assume...

#8 is a guinea pig... anything from low fuel pressure, clogged fuel filter, bad programming etc... could cause that one to fail. Just like CSI said about the dead end fuel system.

As for #2 that's something to address.

Since it's injectors on the same bank, at opposite ends I would certainly check the UVC harness, but usually ajoining cylinders fail when the harness goes bad.

Check all wire connections on the outside and inside of the driver side bank.

Here is a video for you.

Could this by why my problem seems to be intermittent?

A scorched or "loose" UVC harness will be intermittent.

Can't be sure that's the problem though, but certainly worth a try.

Pull your driver side valve cover and make sure the harness is plugged in good and tight. You will be able to visually see where the little arms facing up are above the arm that holds them in or below it. Additionally you can see space between the connection then you know they're not getting great contact.

It will take you all of 30 minutes to pull the driverside valve cover since that's the easier one...

and that's where #2 and #8 reside

Ya I am working on it, having just broke my wrist projects seem to be taking longer. Seems I need to figure that out first. On another not, before I took it to the dealership I checked out the UVC but couldn't tell anything was up, I will try to take another look.

Well I took it to another shop and was buzz tested again and cylinders 3 and 8 (dealer said they told me wrong cylinder and it was 3 and 8 as well) are weak. Said they didnt get any codes that showed the UVC's were bad. I got two new injectors for $100 so I just decided to replace them. I also want to replace both UVC's, what are the part numbers for the UVC's and what do I need to replace the injectors?

Does anybody know the part numbers for the UVC harnesses, I would like to get them from my local IH dealer. Also do I need any washers to install those two injectors? What about draining the oil rail?
