MPG gains???
I have a stock 2001 F-250 diesel. I am running 0W40 full synthetic as it gets very cold in Canada. The question I have is about fuel mileage. RPM is around 1750 at 60 miles per hour. Is there any chip, fuel additive or mod anyone can recommend which will improve mpg?? I have heard of people using certain ones which give good mpg and some which don't. Any help would be appreciated. I do not do any long distance towing, just boat, camper etc. We use the truck to commute as a family vehicle as it is a shortbox crew cab.

I recently did the CCV mod and installed a Ford Severe Duty Air Induction System to my PSD and saw a 1.6MPG increase in fuel economy. The greatest increase i've had thus far.I'm sure doing the Zoodad mod and adding a 5 inch exhaust from Farmboys will help even more. You kinda have to chip away at it piece by piece.Helping your engine inhale and exhale will probably yield you the best gains.Chips are nice, but the engine has to breathe.

i would start by putting a 4 inch exuast on with a diy intake (there is plenty of info on it around this website)and get a programmer of some sort i run a edge evo and i love it it has 3 settings and my truck with all of that and running bg diesel additive i get about a 18-20mpg avg and i live in colorado and drive over a mountain pass everyday to work

I have an 02 with 117k on it. Stock I was getting about 14mpg. I added a 5 inch exhaust with 4inch downpipe, airaid intake and an edge evolution tuner. Power was awesome but saw about 1mpg gain on the race setting as long as i babied it. I switched to superchips and i get 18-19 in town and 20+ highway.
