EGT temps?

I have a 02 7.3 and my EGT temp is tapped in at the bottom of the header/exhaust manifold was wondering how hot I can get it? I have been backing off after 1,000 can I go higher then that?

You do not want to be above 1250* for very long. Higher temperature spikes are okay, but sustained heat is what causes issues.

Same here, I try to stay below 1250 but I have been told spikes above that for short periods of time will not hurt anything.

I've only had mine get as high as 1100* pulling my camper, and thats only when climbing a grade and it kick out of overdrive, then I back off some too keep those temps down.
