7.3 fuel mileage advice

I just bought an 02 F-350 4x4 duallie 208k. It has no muffler, otherwise the truck is bone stock. Best mileage so far has been 11.5 mpg with fresh oil and filters. Does it sound like i have a problem ? Also, what are some real world mpg increases from programmers ? Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Justin

11.5 seems a lil low... is that highway or city driving? or a lil of both? you prob have 4.10 rear end which is whats killing your mpg... i would suggest a set of gauges first then a custom tuned chip like a Tony Wildman... also a DIY intake to let it breath better... that will give you a lil more mpg... let me know if you have any questions on these

That figure is a mixture of easy city/highway driving. Do you think that after a few mods that i could see 15 mpg or better on the highway with a 4.10 gear ?

getting a taller tire will help the highway millage, keep the rpms lower. you could probably get 15 with a few mods
