engine code 1316??????

hey, whats up ladies and gents. Pops is having trouble with his 01 PS. I had a problem a few months ago and yall were quick and happy to give your advise, and i greatly appreciate it. between yall and a few friends it saved me a few Ks. heres the dilemma:

truck starts to run like crap, engine light flashes off and on, truck clears up, engine light stays on for a minute then goes off, seems to be ok for 10 or 15 miles. next day, same thing. I ran the codes and got 1316, something bout injector relay, ya so i can guess what a injector relay is and what it does, but what does it actually mean and how do i narrow it down to a specific injector???

Usually when you get that code you have the wireing harness comming loose under the valve covers or the uvc's. You can have an injector buzz test run to see what side is coming loose pull the valve cover and reconnect. They have new wedges you can buy to keep it from happening again.

You can buy the wedges from ford not expensive. You need someone with a scanner that can run the test. So either a dealer or a mechanic with a scanner for the powerstroke. Its a test that checks the electrical part of the injector and gives an audible sound from each injector if its good electrically.

I second the above advise...you can get the wedges from ford to fix it or just replace the harnesses.....and i would reccomend doing both sides even though only one side is the problem.....cause eventually the other side will be too!!!

P 1316 code has subset details

My 2000 dually was doing the same as described above and after many attempts trying to fix it , turns out it was the AIR INTAKE SENSOR causing all the probs !!!!!!!!
