water/fuel separator

When I drain the fuel filter bowl, does this also drain out any water that has been accumulated through the water/fuel separator?

Yep since water is heavier then diesel it will sink to the bottom of the bowl

I have an 04 Excursion with the 6.0l V8. My fuel/water separator light came on so I drained the top and the bottom. That didn't work so I replaced both filters. The light still won't go out. Are there any other options I can try before I go to the dealership?

Mine was doing the same thing, took it in and got it replaced under warranty, took 17 min. in and out.

Thanks, I'll do that next! I had thought about replacing the water/fuel separator beneath the driver's seat attached to the frame. Should I go to the dealership first?
When I drained it, I didn't see any water. Is it ok to drive with the light on or am I going to do major damage?

I drained mine every other day just in case of damage. I know that injectors do not like water, and Ford will not cover any damage due to water in the injectors.
