New annoying wistle started out of no where

truck: 2000 f350 reg cab longbed 7.3
mods: bully dog intake, 38r turbo, 5" exhaust, progamer

Last week my truck started to make an annoying wistle out of no where. It is the loudest when lightly on the throttle and when i'm only @ about 1lb of boost. had my wife rev the motor for me and it sounds to just be the sound of the turbo sucking in air through the intake. I relate it to the sound of wind blowing over an open glass bottle. What i dont understand is why it just started doing it and hasnt done it befor. i've had the truck for over a year and it was around january when i put the 38r in so you would have thought it would have been doing it all along. Any thoughts? I may just be paranoid but i depend on this truck for my bussiness and just want to make sure nothing is going bad. All my boots seem good and tight and leak free.

I did a quick check to make sure the clamps were all tight and they were. as soon as i get the time I'll check for actualls holes in them. would this cause you to hear a wistle in the intake though? there is no doubt that is where its coming from.

Treid 2-different turbos, stuufed rags in the fenders, different air intakes, installed a foil cac tube, new cac boots,...AND NO SIGNS OF SOOT, ANYWHERE...to no prevail.

my thread was..wind thru a pipe, sound.

I have the 6speed manual trans. it does it mostly when i'm crusing and am light on the throttle. I can get it to sound like an firetruck alarm if i get on and off the throttle...hahaha. Is that what yours was doing as well

to a T, bud. It really starts horn'n off, around 1500rpm, in 5th gear...yup, have a 6spd as well.. Also, its throttle senitive. I let off in gear, no sound, then the slightest depress of skinny, and bam, sounds' goin off

From reading on how the input overtime, gets beat on..(bearing that is), i'm thinking the "race" has know begun to spin in its housing.

The only thing is i can rev the truck stopped in neutral and it does it. that is what i did when I had my wife rev it while i listened under the hood. The wistle was definatly coming from the intake so i dont know if I have the same thing as you. At least i hope not cause i dont want to have the start of tranny problems.

Ok, so i took off all my intake and cooler boots and they are all in great shape. craweled under the truck and listened while it was rev'd and it does sound that it might be the trany. timmyboy76, did you notice any loss of power when yours started to do the wine? It seems that my truck has lost some of its get up and go. It also seems that the more i drive it the louder the wine is getting and the more power it seems to loose. I'm starting to worry something big is going to boom.

Moderators, feel free to move this to the problems sections if you think I may get more feedback from members there cause i'm at a loss as to what it could be.

It sounds like an exhaust leak to me!
If your up-pipes from the exhaust manifolds have even the slightest leak at any of the connections it will make a high pitched squeal and is hard to pinpoint because of the engine noise.

I checked that as well because of the loss of power i think i'm feeling and because I just put the 38r on a few months ago and thought the clamps might need tightened but no leaks in the up or down pipe.
