Give me some info on your truck like what year.

I experienced similar problems with both the superchips downloader and a diablo sport chip. The early99's seemed to really have a problem with the generic tuning and even to some extent the custom tunes as well.

Its an early 99. has 236,000 mi. the only thing i have done to it is a 4in turbo back and diy intake.
on the 1-2 shift it seems like it take too long.
Im planning on an aftermrket valve body. Was also looking at a pan by DERALE with the cooling tubes through it. Then go with the dp tuner.
Do you think the dp will fix my pinging problem. what do you think is causing the sound. Thanks for the info.

With that many miles I would pull the injectors and put new O rings in. My truck was making that noise and it ended up being 3 bad injector O rings. The DP tunes made the noise worse than what it sounded like the TW tunes.

The DP tunes will help the shifting. Jody did quite a bit of tuning work on my truck to get the trans to work very nice. Keep in mind of you run a chip/tuner of any kind you need gauges to keep an eye on things. And if you get a John Wood Valve body, Jody and John work very closely together and it makes a nice combo.

Keep Strokin'

PS, there is some good info in the early99 section.

The O rings are available here: Motorcraft 8-sets of Brand New 7.3L Ford Powerstroke Diesel Injector O-ring kits

Or on Fleebay here: eBay Motors: Powerstroke injector o-ring oring seal installation kit (item 320101389774 end time Mar-02-08 11:16:09 PST)

I would not worry too much about hurting it if you want to make a few runs down the track. I ran my truck down the drag strip 11 times, sled pulls and towing for 20K miles. If you turn it to a lower tune, does it still do the same thing?

I put it on perf tow and it did the same thing. it only seems to do it in lower gears (1 & 2)when it rpms quick. If your crusing down the road and stand on it it wont do it.

When i pull the injector is there a drain plug for the oil & fuel. I was told how to do it a while back and forgot. hands on helps the brain.
thanks for the info.
