I have a 2002 F-250/7.3 powerstroke. last week it kept shuting itself off when i am driving. sometimes it would start up right away and not, i wiggled the key and steering column and it seem to be the same. I hit the key switch and it would start so i replaced the key switch and that seem to fix the problem till today. Same problem started all over shuts down when driving sometimes it will start up. Any suggestions,
Sometimes they are intermittent. I had one that would kill the truck about 3 seconds after start-up every other day. I also had one that would not let the truck run at all.
The are cheap enough to just buy and try. If it doesn't fix the issue, throw it in the glove box as a spare and look elsewhere.
The gray CPS that Ford sells and puts in during the recall is more reliable, but it definitely has it's flaws. Ford doesn't really care though because they have made a ton of money selling people a #8 injector... :thumb::icon_ford:
Thanks for the info,I didn't mean to make it sound bad i just thought if the cps went bad it just wont start at all. I had know idea that they could be inttermintent or have a mind of there own.
After I replaced the cps and the ignition switch with know change,my cousin had a scanner and when it stalled it coded the IPR-(injection pressure regulator) replaced it and have had no problem.
