Ok in town... Poor highway MPGs

Hello everyone I have a question regarding my 2000 F250. For about a year plus now my highway gas mileage has dropped to around 10 to 12 MPG. In the past I would get around 20 MPG highway. It seems to still be getting about 16 in town but as soon as I get on the highway I can literally watch my fuel gauge drop. I was planning on taking it into the dealer to see if they could pull some codes. What should i check first. Thanks

Change your fuel filter if it hasn't been changed in the last 15 thousand miles
