super chip 1855 question

Super chip 1855 i just put on my 99 super duty and in first gear it only boosts to 17... and in 3rd it will boost 24...
I have the diy air filter, straight pipe exhaust. idm 140, wicked wheel...

How much can you actually do with a superchip 1855??? And how can i get more boost.?

thanks

24 is pretty high for a stock turbo- that is what I get a WOT. I read some where once that anything over that is excess boost and you don't want to see over 29-30 - could be wrong because I read about that probably 2 years ago.

24 is the standard safe max with a stock turbo. If you want more, you can trick it to give more, but you'll be spending $1k+ on a new turbo sooner rather than later. The better options are to get a WWgen2 wheel, or a bigger turbo, like the 38r.

If you want a little more, get rid of the superchips and get a custom tuned chip the likes of Tony Wildman, PHP, DP Tuner, etc. I recommend PHP. Bill does some good work. I had a superchips programmer and decided to go PHP. The truck really woke up after that. Plus the custom tuners are easier on the trannies than the can tunes that superchips puts out.

For an off the shelf programmer what you have is pretty good. I had the 1705 model and was very happy with it but I wanted more. Brian at BTS highly recommends superchips against other programmers of that type. He says their shift points and pressures are second to none. Even the custom tuners are not as good unless they copy. Obviously, this is for the E4OD/4R100 trans. I can't say for the others.

more boost doesn't translate to more power. boost helps to completely burn the fuel being pumped into the engine. more fuel=more power on a diesel as long as enough air can be forced into it to allow that extra fuel to be completely burned up.

super chip, edge tuners etc. are an entry level plug and play kind of thing. it does what it says and that's the end of it.

sell the superchip and get a custom tune or 6 position chip of some kind.
