Ok, so I'm gonna start a log too, mainly to keep me progressing on it.

Got a lot of things to do to the girl.

It's got 290,370 miles on the clock.

300,000 mile maintenance has come early!

I snapped some pics of everything I want to accomplish.

Here we go:


The shift lever. The top screw hole broke off on my about an hour ago as I put it in park at the house..... So this is first on the list! A while back the screws backed out and one broke as I put it in and tightened it so I didn't think anything about it, just made sure the other stayed tight. I guess the extra stress broke it....



Got an issue with my brake booster....this is inside the cab as you see... It's got grease everywhere up in there!



Got a pretty bad oil leak.... Gonna wash under the truck, clean it up good to determine what's the cause... Got a lot of oil in the valley too....



Brakes.... Going to convert it all from E99 to L99. Needs new rotors as one is warped and the calipers are sticking pretty bad... They have Ford stamped on them so they may be original....
Also you see the 4x4 gear is gone. Some jerk stole the ndrivers side hub and it ate the hub assembly p cause i didn't see it! After that, the truck started eating hubs so I pulld all the axels and driveshaft and its running 2wd right now.... All that is gonna be rebuilt.


Gotta do the 6637 mod.....


Need new tires.... Bad. These 33's measure out to 31's..... Going with 35 All Terrains.
Edit: I also need to replace the super lift shocks... They're getting very lazy....



Had a tire blow and it destroyed the bed panel and my exhaust. The shop cut it off and stuck a stock sized pipe in and filled up around it with the welder and threw a tip on and called it good. No sir! I want it 4.5 out! They told me to take it to a shop of my choosing and they would foot the bill. So I called a guy and he has 5in so he's gonna cut this junk off and slide a 5in piece on and a 6in tip for me. Ok that's cool. I can live with that!

Btw... The pic of my tire, those Bushwhackers? My insurance company was nice and put those on since the stock flares were obsolete!

Of course there's the other mods I wanna do later:
TW 6pos tuner
Fuel tank sump
Air Dog 2 pump
HPOP upgrade
Stage 1 injectors
Turbo upgrade (for now just the WWG2)
Intercooloer
3gauge pod and gauges

I guess that's all for now!

We'll see how it goes!

Seems like quite the oil leak! I have either a bad turbo or oil coming out of my exhaust manifolds..ill be pulling the motor in a couple weeks to find out more

Sorry for the rant, good luck with your truck!

Oh yuck! We've gotta pull the motor on dads 1996 7.3 and redo all the seals....she's pushing 370,000

Mine only has 250k. But some farmer owned it, and didn't take care of it. The air filter was nasty and the housing was broken.
Luckily I'm picking up two forged rod long blocks
One will go in for now and the other will get built!

So I worked on that shift lever....

Getting to where the dog can see the cat....


As you can see, the top ear broke off...


Ended up taking it all the way out... Tried zip ties in the hole and around the unit, tried a hose clamp... (Of course temporary fixes)
Dad is gonna take it to work tomorrow and fab something up to hold it... ( This may or may not be goo hahaha!)


So for now it looks like this....

I hear ya bud, we love our diesel's, but our wallets don't. It is definitely a love/hate affair.

Lol it's Reed. I was hoping by this point to have my tuner and gauges in but things hardly ever happen like we think they should. I am a favorite of old Murphy. You know his rule, the 50/50/90? He thinks I should live by the 50/50/100! Hawthorne breaks the shift lever?! I didn't even shift it up hard!!!

im gonna be watching this one!

check your CCV doghouse and see if the hose is connected to your intake. it almost looks like something is just blowing oil over the driver side of your engine compartment.

my truck has oil leaking on the filter too. i think i need to reseal my oil cooler.

do you have AAL's in the front? my springs are not near that arched and more like flat!
