7.3 no start, unplug icp then ran, then no start

2002 7.3 Powerstroke, stock work truck. 244k miles. New fuel pump, fuel filter, cps sensor.

I had a bad fuel pump and cranked it a lot. Replaced fuel pump and it started and ran.

Test Driving: It died on me this morning a block from my house, pulled it home, checked HPOP level it was pretty empty, filled it up, still no start.

I unplugged the ICP sensor, it started right up, went for test drive, she ran awesome, then a mile away she died again. Towed it back again, I checked the level in the HPOP it was down about 1.5 inches again.

Does this mean that the IPR is bad also? Someone mentioned that the Lpop should be looked at.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I replaced the ICP, still no start. Is the next step to check the IPR.

I replaced the orings on all of the lines and the IPR earlier this winter, is there a chance that some crud broke loose and plugged it?

I dissconnected the batteries to charge it, so I cleared any codes that were there.

I really need help.

You say you are clearing codes. How? Are you using AE?

I disconnected the batteries to install the ICP and IPR, so I am guessing that cleared the codes. I ordered AE yesterday, so that I can do the buzz test and check ICP while cranking.

Before I did all of this work to it, it did start hard in 50 degree weather. I am guessing that test driving it while having the ICP unplugged finished off the HPOP. But I will know more when AE gets here and I can scan it. My friend used a Innova scanner, from what I understand that doesn't do enough to help with these problems.

There are a lot of posts about this set of problems. Hpop leak down, and hard to no start. But no one follows up with the solution....

Thanks for replying, I just need a little help to point me in the right direction.

Adam

Update:

I decided to check if the low pressure oil pump was working, so I checked the level in the HPOP res., loosened the fill nut and cranked on it for about 20 secs. She sputtered, then I hit the start again and she fired up. I allowed it to idle for a few minutes, the motor sounded good. Then as it was getting warm it died again. I removed the new ICP connector and it started briefly (30 seconds) then died again.

The low pressure pump did fill the res. from about 3 inches down in that 10 to 20 seconds of cranking. It was 3/4" below the bottom thread in res. after it died.

So does this new info help?
